But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. Galatians 4:4-5 (NLT)
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but it also has a way of highlighting broken relationships within families. Today, I want to show you how important family is to God—and how He wants to get involved with yours.
But to do that, we have to go all the way back to when God's own family began with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Every day, He walked and talked with them as their perfect Father, instilling within them His values and principles.
But then God's family was broken. Adam and Eve decided they would determine right from wrong. They disobeyed God, and His presence left them. What followed were the darkest ages the world has ever seen... until the miracle of Christmas happened.
Jesus' birth on this planet was about God restoring His family.<3strong> It signified a loving Father reaching out because He wanted a relationship with all of His children.
An elderly man named Simeon recognized this incredible truth. He had been waiting for years to see the Messiah. When Jesus was presented at the temple as a baby, Simeon took one look at Him and exclaimed, “I have seen Your salvation, which you have prepared for all people” (Luke 2:30-31, NLT). He had a powerful sense in his spirit that the restoration of God's family was about to take place.
Today, meditate on this—just like God sent Jesus to restore His family, He wants to bring healing and restoration to your family as well.
