Who Are You?

September 25, 2021
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Romans 8:16-17 (NKJV)

The words you speak hold power. And according to God’s Word, there are three things you need to confess every day.  Who you are, what you are, and your mission in life.

Let’s tackle the first one today.

Your sense of identity determines what you put up with and where you go in life. But many believers are in an identity crisis. They don’t know or believe what God’s Word says about them, so their words are full of defeat and failure—and soon their lives follow suit.

You see, the enemy is shooting “fiery darts” at your heart, telling you lies about who you are. The only way to snuff them out is to confess the Word. It’s crucial that you continually remind yourself who you are in Christ. This is how you fight the good fight to stay in faith! Whenever negative circumstances come up, your sense of identity will rise within you to confront it.

So, who are you as a believer?

  • You’re a child of God and a joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:14-17). Whatever belongs to Him is yours—health, peace and favour.
  • You’re God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).
  • Condemnation can’t touch you (Romans 8:1). Jesus qualified you for every promise in God’s Word.
  • You’re designed to reign in life through Jesus (Romans 5:17). You’re not a beggar, but a king or queen!

Get your identity established in the Word. Fight the good fight and speak words of faith. Every day, declare who you are in Christ!
