YOU CAN UNDERSTAND GOD’S WILL

April 11, 2022

But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. 1 Corinthians 2:16 (AMPC)

Isaiah 55:9 says that God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and it is often quoted to explain disaster. The assumption is that God causes calamity for reasons we can’t understand.

The first part of 1 Corinthians 2:16 says, “For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge?” (AMPC).

However, we can’t forget the second part of 1 Corinthians 2:16! It says that believers have the mind of Christ! We hold the thoughts, feelings and purposes of His heart, so we can understand His ways! Isaiah 55:9 is an Old Testament verse, and we no longer live as Old Testament people lived. Because of Jesus, we have Holy Spirit within us, guiding and leading us to all truth.

God has also given us His Word to show us His ways. You can know what God’s will is on a variety of topics by reading His promises. He promises us health, so His will is for us to be healthy. He promises us protection, so His will doesn’t involve any sort of harm. He promises us long life and good days, so it’s not His will when someone’s life is cut short.

Jesus prayed for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. So, if something is not permitted in Heaven, it’s not God’s will on earth. Life will still throw things your way, but you can pray and believe for better!
