After the Day of Pentecost, the disciples were heroic beyond belief. They did amazing things—performing miracles, raising the dead, healing the sick and casting out devils. They were whipped and beaten, killed and raised to life, shipwrecked for days in shark-infested waters… yet they still kept going.
What was it about them that made them so fearless? They spent time cultivating their inner lives—an idea that was once common but seems foreign to most believers today.
The results are telling. Our western society has more stuff, more fun, more prosperity and better medicines than ever before in history. Even so, fear, depression and anxiety are on the rise.
The problem is that many believers have never learned to establish their hearts in the truth of who they are in Christ. And the Bible teaches us that what’s in your heart flows out of you! Your entire future is in this power centre called your heart!
