Your Harvest Will Come

August 7, 2021

“The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens.” Mark 4:26–27 (NLT)

Mark 4 gives us a beautiful look at how the human heart works—not the physical heart, but the center of your being that releases forces into your life.

Like a seed that grows without any help from the farmer, the thoughts and beliefs you introduce to your heart produce a result over time—even when you aren’t paying attention.

For example, if you keep meditating on one of God’s promises, you’re planting a seed. Then, as you go about your everyday life, that seed takes root. First you notice a small change. Maybe a little bit of hope returns. You begin to notice that you’re thinking has changed. You have a more positive outlook and you start to imagine what life will be like when you’re walking in that promise.

Mark 4:29 says, “And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come” (NLT). Over time, your confidence grows, and step by step you walk into that promise—you begin to harvest what you’ve been planting.

The Bible is the most gorgeous book you will ever read because it’s full of seeds. Are you planting them in your heart? If you’re dealing with an issue in your life, take the time to write down a few of God’s promises that deal with that area. Every time you claim these promises for your life and you imagine yourself experiencing them, you’re planting a seed. Keep at it and your harvest time will come!
