For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 1 Peter 1:23 (NLT)
When you gave your life to Jesus, you became a member of God’s family. You were made right with Him and, as a result, you are a citizen of Heaven.
This is incredibly great news, but it isn’t the only good news Jesus talked about. When it comes to your life on this planet, you need to realize that you have a completely new identity as a child of God.
Second Corinthians 5:16 says that we are not to regard Christians from a worldly point of view. In other words, you are a spiritual being, and your nature completely changed the moment you gave your life to Christ. You may look the same on the outside, but you became a brand-new creation in that moment. Your spiritual DNA changed.
First Peter 1:23 says that you have been born again of imperishable seed through the Word of God which lasts forever. The Living Bible translation puts it this way: “For you have a new life. It was not passed on to you from your parents, for the life they gave you will fade away. This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ, God’s ever-living Message to men.”
A miracle has taken place deep inside you and you’re a brand-new creation. But you may have misbeliefs about who you are. Over the next few days we’re going to further discuss this new identity because it’s time to get your eyes off what the world says about you, with all of its limitations, skepticism, low self-esteem and lies—and begin to realize who you really are in Christ!
