Your Worldview

September 14, 2021
Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. Philippians 3:19-20 (NLT)

I once had the honour of meeting with a group of fifteen U.S. Navy Seal officers. Part of our day was spent on a boat a few miles out to sea, where I noticed that one officer had a beeper.

If this beeper went off, he explained, he had exactly 45 minutes to get to the jet that would take him to wherever he was needed. The fact that we were on a boat miles from shore was no concern to him. With pure determination, he assured me that whatever it took, even if it meant swimming for miles, he would be on that jet in 45 minutes.

Everyone has a worldview—a lens through which they see life.

Questions like, “Who am I? What is my purpose in life?” determine your worldview and affect everything you do. If your worldview is Biblically incorrect, you will find yourself entangled in your everyday life and unable to fulfill your purpose.

The Navy Seals officer had a certain lens he looked through. No matter what, he was not going to let life entangle him or stop him from his mission. His worldview established the values and the purposes of his life, and so does yours.

Take some time to look at your worldview today. What is the main focus of your life? Does it line up withJesus’ plan or does your lens require a bit of refocusing?
